Lazy Daisy Set for Dynamic Return

Lazy Daisy, a $39,000 OBS April purchase last year by Blue Chip Founder Steve McPherson, is set to resume summer racing after a fabulous return to racing in the Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park. The Fantasy, won by Swiss Skydiver, marked the first race back for “Daisy” since her run in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies. Lazy Daisy finished 6th in the Fantasy under jockey David Cohen, but she probably should have finished fourth if she wasn’t interfered with in the stretch. Regardless, it was a great first-race back after a five month layoff.

McPherson purchased the talented filly from Off the Hook stables at the 2019 OBS April sale. Since then, the filly broke her maiden at Del Mar, then went out and dominated the Grade II Pocahontas at Churchill Downs to punch her ticket to the Breeders Cup.

“She is a really talented filly,” said McPherson. “She took everyone on a ride of a lifetime last Fall, so we are hoping for some of the same for her connections this summer as well.”

Owners of the horse include hockey star Erik Johnson,, and Medallion Racing, the racing arm of Taylor Made Farm.
